Hearing Examination

Regular hearing checks are crucial in keeping track of your hearing and detecting any issues early on. The earlier we detect them the easier we can resolve them!

We recommend hearing checks to be carried out annually.

Camden Contact Lens Centre offers FREE Hearing Health Checks 4 days a week; Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

All appointments are carried out by fully qualified Audiologists, who are Registered Hearing Aid Dispensers with the Health & Care Professions Council and Members of the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists.

Our FREE Hearing Health Check includes 4 main areas of focus:

  1. Medical History – Information relating to ear health, hearing health and general health.
  2. Otoscopy – Look inside the ear with a medical instrument which will show the health of the ear canal and ear drum.
  3. Hearing Screen – 4 Point check at 500hz, 1000Hz, 2000Hz and 4000Hz. These frequencies cover the broad spectrum of hearing and give us a good indication of potential hearing loss.
  4. Explanation of Results – An explanation of results and what falls within normal, mild, moderate, severe or profound hearing.

If results from the Hearing Health Check fall out of normal limits, you will be invited back for a Full Consultation which investigates your hearing in greater detail

Our Full Consultation is a 90 minute appointment which includes 8 main areas of focus:

  1. Extensive Medical History – Extensive information relating to ear health, hearing health and general health.
  2. Client Orientated Scale of Improvement – Review of areas or situations in which you may find difficulty in hearing or would like to hear better in.
  3. Otoscopy – Look inside the ear with a medical instrument which will show the health of the ear canal and ear drum.
  4. Video Otoscopy – Live video showing the inside of your ear including key points such as the ear canal and ear drum with a full explanation along the way.
  5. Full Hearing Assessment – Pure Tone Audiometry with Air-Conduction and Bone-Conduction testing. Full spectrum of frequencies tested allowing us to understand complete hearing ability and location of hearing loss in the auditory pathway.
  6. Explanation of Results – An explanation of results linked to the Client Orientated Scale of Improvement and the cause for issues described earlier.
  7. Demonstration – A pair of hearing aids will be programmed to your test results and prescription required. You will be able to spend some time in the consulting room, the store and on the high street to gain a better understanding of how the hearing aids are helping.
  8. Recommendation & Solution – Our Audiologist will recommend the best solution to you based on your test results, areas of difficulty, style and budget. All our hearing aids come with a 60 Day Trial!

We carry a large portfolio of digital hearing aids from Swiss manufacturer Phonak.

We always recommend you to attend a full consultation with a close family member or friend. They may be able to contribute valuable information during the consultation as well as provide support for any decisions you might make.

If you are an existing hearing aid wearer or feel you would like to go straight into a Full Consultation please let a member of our team know and we can book you in for our Full Consultation.
